We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist – Child Protection (CP) who will play a critical role in guiding and supporting the implementation of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response programming in humanitarian settings. The position requires deep technical expertise, field coordination experience, and a rights-based approach to program design and execution.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Program Manager – CP and field-level teams to ensure quality service delivery aligned with child rights and GBV response principles, while also building the capacity of project staff and partners to sustainably manage protection programs.
Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and monitoring of GBV and Child Protection activities.
Ensure all programming adheres to child rights-based approaches, incorporating safety, dignity, confidentiality, and non-discrimination.
Conduct assessments and provide technical input for program adaptation based on community needs and contextual changes.
Support and guide field teams in delivering high-quality interventions and strengthening local referral systems and response mechanisms.
Lead capacity-building initiatives for staff, partner organizations, and community-based structures to enhance local ownership and sustainability.
Facilitate regular field visits to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and support learning and adaptation.
Advocate for improvements in GBV/CP response policies in collaboration with stakeholders and government bodies.
Document and share program learnings, best practices, and innovations for continuous improvement.
A Master’s degree or Postgraduate qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a relevant discipline.
Minimum 3 years of progressive work experience in Child Protection or GBV-focused roles.
At least 3 years in a supervisory or technical leadership capacity within NGO or development/humanitarian projects.
Prior experience in child rights-based programming and familiarity with humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of CRC (Convention on the Rights of the Child) and other relevant human rights instruments.
Demonstrated understanding of project cycle management.
Ability to analyze child protection risks and rights issues at global, national, and local levels.
Proficient in English (spoken and written); knowledge of local language(s) is an advantage.
