Position Overview:

The BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), a premier language education unit of BRAC University, is inviting applications for full-time permanent faculty positions at the Professor level. 

We are seeking distinguished professionals in the fields of Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, English Language Teaching (ELT), TESOL, or Language Education Management and Leadership.

The selected candidates will be expected to contribute significantly to teaching, research, and academic service, and should demonstrate evidence of scholarly engagement appropriate to the rank of Professor.

Educational Requirements:

PhD in a relevant field from a highly reputed and accredited foreign university with outstanding academic performance across all degrees.

International academic experience is highly desirable.

Experience and Additional Requirements:

Proven leadership experience in recognized educational institutions.

A strong portfolio of impactful research and scholarly publications.

Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in English.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

High level of professionalism and organizational skills.

Demonstrated adherence to ethical standards.

Priority Research and Teaching Areas:

Candidates with expertise or publications in the following areas will be given preference:

Transformative language policy and planning

Affective language education

Curriculum development and evaluation

Psycholinguistics, language acquisition and learning

EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes)

Materials development for minoritized learners

Critical pedagogy

Language testing and assessment

Language and identity: class, gender, religion, nation, style, etc.

Linguistic rights of indigenous and minority communities

English language education for sustainable development, social justice, and equity

Language, space, and mobility

Integration of technology and AI in English language education

Medium of instruction policies

Trans-movement in language and language education

Critical Discourse Analysis

Pragmatics

Language and translation studies

Leadership in language education

Innovation in language teaching and curriculum

Quantitative methods in applied and sociolinguistics

Language education from decolonial and Southern epistemology perspectives

Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.

Conduct and publish high-quality research.

Engage in academic service and administrative responsibilities within the department or university.

Mentor junior faculty and contribute to curriculum development and academic planning.
