Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture, Animal Science, or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in large-scale livestock or poultry procurement and supply chain management.
Preferred background in Agro-based industries, Food (Packaged)/Beverage, or Agro-processing companies.
Strong understanding of livestock markets, sourcing strategies, pricing mechanisms, and animal disease prevention.
Proven skills in negotiation, vendor management, and budget control.
Familiar with contract farming models and rural sourcing networks.
Proficiency in cost tracking, procurement systems, and financial compliance.
High level of integrity in financial handling and procurement governance.
Strong team leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
The Livestock and Poultry Procurement Lead is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the end-to-end sourcing and supply chain processes related to livestock and poultry procurement. This includes developing strategies for sourcing, overseeing contract farming initiatives, coordinating logistics, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring quality compliance. The role is central to maintaining a consistent and high-quality raw material flow aligned with production and sales demands, all while maintaining strong financial and operational governance.
Design and implement sourcing strategies to meet business objectives.
Contribute to price forecasting tools and supply planning models.
Manage the procurement budget and drive cost-reduction initiatives.
Ensure adherence to legal, financial, quality, and safety compliance across procurement activities.
Monitor key procurement performance indicators and efficiency metrics.
Develop short-, mid-, and long-term procurement plans based on production schedules and market trends.
Oversee daily procurement from farmers, traders, and suppliers.
Analyze real-time market conditions, supplier dependability, and livestock health risks for decision-making.
Ensure proper order placement, delivery inspection, and payment coordination.
Establish and manage contract farming initiatives to strengthen the supply chain.
Identify and develop new sourcing channels and relationships.
Conduct training and awareness programs for farmers and traders on animal health, vaccination, and quality standards.
Maintain and update the supplier database with performance metrics.
Ensure synchronized operations between procurement, inventory, and production teams.
Liaise with transport teams to ensure timely and safe delivery of livestock.
Monitor transportation to reduce livestock mortality and ensure optimal health and weight.
Lead by example, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and collaboration.
Supervise and mentor the plant-level sourcing team.
Translate strategic objectives into measurable action plans.
Provide regular performance feedback and facilitate team learning and development.
